The regular 82nd meeting of the Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held on June 21 in the Belarusian capital, the agenda of which included an extensive range of specific issues of further cooperation and multilateral cooperation in the economic sphere.
The Kazakhstan delegation at the meeting was headed by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Smailov A.A. The Ministry of National Economy was
represented by Vice Minister Zhaslan Madiev.
The Turkmen side presided over the meeting.
In a narrow format, members of the Council, and these were Deputy Prime Ministers of the Commonwealth countries, exchanged views on topical issues of economic cooperation and discussed the progress in preparing a draft Agreement on Free Trade in Services.
In expanded composition considers the main target macroeconomic indicators of the development of the economy of the CIS member states for 2018 and various aspects of the work carried out in the Commonwealth countries on the International Comparison Program based on the purchasing power parity of currencies.
The subject of discussion was also the draft of the Complex of Joint Actions of the CIS Member States for the Prevention and Control of Avian Influenza and the Newcastle Disease for the Period up to 2025.
The participants paid special attention to a number of documents regulating, in particular, the interaction of the Commonwealth countries in the field of innovation, intergovernmental standardization, health care, antitrust, development of power engineering and the chemical industry, and staff development in various areas. Some of these documents are submitted to the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS.

With the Economic Council of the CIS on an ongoing basis, there is a Commission on Economic Affairs, which consists of plenipotentiary representatives of the CIS member
states. It provides a comprehensive study and consideration of draft documents of a socio-economic nature, prepared by the CIS Executive Committee and industry bodies, and also coordinates the positions of states.
Meetings of the CIS Economic Council are held once a quarter, and Commission meetings
are held at least once a month.
