“Non-tariff measures in Armenia, Northern and Central Asia” - this is the topic of the sub-regional seminar, where representatives of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part on June 10-11 this year in city of Yerevan.
The event, organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), builds on the capacity of policymakers on trade issues and standardization organizations to reduce the impact of non-tariff measures on trade, while recognizing their relevance to the implementation of the Agenda in sustainable development for the period up to 2030.
The participants paid special attention to cooperation between the countries of North and Central Asia in solving problems related to non-tariff regulation measures, identifying common problems and sharing best practices.
The program of the seminar included the use of non-tariff measures, the implications of their application for trade and sustainable development, mechanisms for sending notifications on the introduction of these measures and the importance of transparency.
In the framework of the event, in order to develop proposals aimed at solving problems related to non-tariff regulation measures in trade between partners, the Ministry presented a presentation on the application of non-tariff regulation measures in Kazakhstan.
Such workshops provide an opportunity for member countries to strengthen partnerships, demonstrate global knowledge and innovation, and discuss World Trade Organization Agreements on sanitary and phytosanitary measures and technical barriers to trade.
